The 19 Crimes Uprising Red is a medium red wine with bright ruby red hues. This wine confidently takes charge with intense lifted mocha, caramel and sweet spice aromatics balanced with raspberry and blackberry fruits. Full and round on the palate with a distinct sweetness making the wine rich and mouth-coating. The mocha and sweet spice aromatics carry through on the palate and compliment subtle flavours of brown sugar and cinnamon. The palate has a long rich plush finish filled with jammy blackberry and raspberry flavours.
The Uprising - Red 2020 is part aged for 30 days in Rum Barrels and pays homage to Australia’s Rum Rebellion of 1808. Due to the Government's hindering of the rum trade, citizens and soldiers joined together to overthrow them. This wine has a warm brown sugar finish and dark jammy flavours.
Sometimes the good intentioned get into no good situations. Such is the story of John Boyle O’Reilly. Irishman by birth. Poet and activist by passion and trade. In 1867 John Boyle O’Reilly was banished from England to Australia on the Hougoumont – the last ship to transport convicts to the down under British colony. He was sentenced to 20 years of servitude for his role in the Fenian Conspiracy – an uprising against British rule in Ireland. Nineteen crimes turned criminal into colonists. Upon conviction, British rogues, guilty of at least one of the 19 crimes were sentenced to live in Australia, rather than death. This punishment by ‘transportation’ began in 1788, and amany of the lawless died at sea. For the rough-hewn prisoners who made it to shore, a new world awaited. As pioneers in a frontier penal colony, they forged a new country and new lives, brick by brick. this wine celebrates the rules they broke and the culture they built. It would be a crime not to drink it!
“The Uprising” wine parcels were selected for their spice and concentration of flavour providing the wine with great intensity and lusciousness on the palate. The Shiraz is dominant lending bright raspberry fruit and plush tannin structure with Cabernet Sauvignon to provide blackberry fruits, palate weight, and structure, and then Grenache to provide spice and fruit sweetness on the palate. The bouquet has intense lifted mocha, caramel, and baking spice notes. On the palate the wine is full and mouth coating with brown sugar, jammy blackberry, and chocolate notes on the finish.

Very occasionally, a wine may suffer from cork taint, the unpleasant effects of a faulty closure. Cork taint is more common in bottles with a traditional cork closure, and is recognisable by a damp, rotten wood or rotten cardboard smell. It’s often quite pungent, and immediately detectable when opening a bottle for the first time. If you get a bottle you think is tainted, contact us and we’ll replace the bottle for free within 48 hours or give you a full refund – whichever you prefer.
